Indian Culture Photo Essay

The culture in India shocked me upon arriving as it was completely different from anything I've experienced. The following pictures demonstrate various temples and historic sites like the Taj Mahal. The beauty of the temples is the architecture and the display of craftsmanship in the surrounding parts of the buildings. Each temple although it seems like sculptures are placed at random, each temple has its own story told by these sculptures surrounding the temple. There are not only Indian religions displayed; if you look around India, you will find Christian and Catholic Churches, as displayed in one of the pictures below. The Lotus temple is a beautiful temple based around the meaning of unity; it's a place where you worship anything you believe and pray to whomever you believe. India was a country that was rich in its own culture but tried to include other cultures within its city, it is a rare sight to see in Eastern cultures, but that is what made India beautiful.

In this picture I'm doing the signature panther pose in front of the Mysore palace rich in history. It used to be home of royalty. In the courtyard behind me they often displayed shows to entertain the residence of the palace.

The India Gate has inspirations from the Arc-de-Triomphe in France. Aside from that, this picture doesn't show it but the layout is inspired by Capitol Hill in Washington DC. The whole place was beautiful although inspired from different cultures India never fails to add its own twist to make it unique.

In a place filled with many beliefs, I thought that I wouldn't be able to find a christian church and even less a Catholic Church. It was nice to see that just like the other monasteries this was full with catholic believers.

Words can't describe the feelings you feel upon seeing the Taj Mahal. It also wouldn't be your first trip to India without seeing the Taj Mahal. Lives up to its title of one of the worlds wonders. I remember drawing a draft of the Taj Mahal thinking I would never see it but seeing it with my own eyes was a feeling I can't explain.
