Ongoing Research
Community perceptions of police use of force
This study investigates how community members perceive ambiguous police use-of-force incidents and whether those perceptions differ by sociodemographic background. By using real-world footage, it aims to better understand how personal experiences and social identity shape reactions to police encounters.

Police Use of Force: The Role of Contextual Information on Public Policing Attitudes
This project explores how preexisting attitudes toward policing and contextual information influence public perceptions of ambiguous police use-of-force incidents. It focuses on whether clearer procedural explanations can lead to more informed evaluations of officer conduct.
An Analysis of Police Interviewing Behavior from Mock Witness Interviews
This study evaluates whether U.S. police interviewers used Cognitive Interview–endorsed techniques when interviewing a mock witness, with a focus on techniques not examined in earlier research. As a follow-up to prior work, it aims to provide updated evidence on the extent to which best-practice witness interviewing methods were incorporated into police interviews.
